Natural Health - Spas For Kids, Tweens and Teens

The hottest new spa trend are spa experiences for Generation Y -those age 5 to 20. And the 'Kid Capital of the World' in Orlando Florida is the place to be to jump on the offerings. The Ritz Carlton Spa, Orlando Grand Lakes has a menu of services for kids and teens called 'Adventures and Treatments'. This menu includes:

--The Ritz Kids Cleansing Facial

--The Ritz Teen Facial

--A Facial Fit for a Princess

--The Ritz Kids Massage

--Fizzing Manicure

--Fizzing Pedicure

Nickelodeon has a Kids Spa and offers the 'My First' series:

--My First Manicure

--My First Pedicure

--My First Facial

--My First Massage

Another spa on top of the future market of the youth is Pinehurst Resort in Pinehurst North Carolina. Their kid friendly services include:

--A 20 minute back and shoulder massage

--The Twinkle Toes Pedicure

--The Fancy Fingers Manicure

These aren't for girls only. Boys can do a Teen Tune-Up in a fitness training session with introductions to lifting weights, cardiovascular care, and other basic workouts. Parents must accompany their children (when under 16) in treatment rooms.

Home parties and day spa events are ways for the young ones to access the spa experience without traveling to destination spas. Having a 'Princess Party' for young girls (as young as 5 years old) that include up-dos, glitter, and jewels can groom them for fancier and more expensive services in the future. Is this too much too soon? Some worry that this is putting too much early emphasize on looks rather than performance. So balance it out with a rock climbing experience. Building strength and beauty together are healthy lessons.

Many spa owners and operators don't see this as an opportunity to recruit a new spa client as much as a educational opportunity to make a difference in a young life. Acne in teens can be treated with specific skin products and a lot of education on the care of the skin. Relaxation services that help reduce anxiety can be reflected in the skin. Another educational focus is the dangers of sun exposure on young skin. Children receive between 50% and 80% of their lifetime sun exposure before the age of 18. Some ideas for spa fun at home include avocado masks on the face, oatmeal baths, make-up experimentation, dress-up, tea parties, and temporary tattoo fun too!
