Paint Brushes - Many Types

Paint brushes are used to apply paint to a variety of surfaces. There are many different types. Some are artist brushes to paint canvas and some are for painting walls, floors, ceilings and other items.

Natural Brushes

The term natural paint brushes applies to the bristles that they are made from. A horse hair brush is one of the natural kinds. Some people swear by the natural type. Natural ones are the most expensive types. They can be crafted by hand. Artists also prefer them because of their ability to hold the paint so well. They can last for years. They usually are crafted with a sturdy wood handle and are cleaned after each use to preserve the brushes.

Synthetic Brushes

Synthetic brushes are usually made from nylon. The bristles on a synthetic paint brush are made from nylon and sometimes the handle is wood and sometimes it is plastic. Synthetic kinds are a lot less expensive than natural ones and are often just thrown away after use.

Types

Whether synthetic or natural, they come in an array of sizes and uses. There are ones that are made for the specific type of paint to be used, and there are ones used for different types of jobs. There are ones that are wide and used to paint walls and ceilings and other areas that can handle a wide swath of paint at a time. There are some that are cut on angles that are used to cut in walls and ceilings, painting the space where the walls and ceilings connect. There are some that are very thin to get into tight spaces. Artist ones are of course on a much smaller scale than paint brushes that are used to paint walls. There are specialty ones that are used to apply certain materials to a surface that are already frazzled.

Costs

They vary in cost and the price really depends on the materials they are crafted from and what they will be used for. For example artists natural paint brushes that are very small can costs around thirty to forty dollars, where as synthetic ones that are used to paint an entire room can cost five dollars.

Paint brushes come in a variety of styles to fit various needs. They range in cost from the very cheap to the rather expensive.
