The Cleveland Museum of Art is the only major art museum in the U.S. that still offers free general admission. Entry fees are charged for a few special exhibitions. First built in 1913, it is located in the University Circle area, a section of town home to several other Cleveland, OH museums and places of interest. The museum's permanent collection boasts more than 43,000 items created in different mediums including paintings, textiles, sculptures, photographs, and drawings. The museum's operating hours are Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. On Wednesdays and Fridays they're open 10 a.m to 9 p.m. It's closed on Mondays. The museum is accessible for the disabled, providing ramps and elevators at the north entrance. Wheelchairs are available for those who require this service. Listening devices are provided to the hearing impaired in the lecture and recital halls.
